Same as usual. Leggings and a tank. Or shorts and a tank. I’m looking forward to the Fall and chillier weather so I can wear some hoodies!

Currently Annoyed About

Not much really.  I’m a tad annoyed that sometimes my camera won’t take pictures until I turn my phone off and on again, but that’s really nothing in the scheme of things.

Tips, Tricks & Secrets for Scoring Great Deals on thredUp!

Tips, Tricks & Secrets for Scoring Great Deals on thredUp!

As you know I love thredUp (*) and have placed dozens of orders from the over the years. I did a story on Instagram about a few pairs of lululemon leggings I bought last week for $25/each and got a ton of questions on how I scored such a great deal on them. So I figured I’d share all my tips, tricks, and secrets for scoring great deals on thredUp.

Lululemon Leggings
First up, the leggings.  I picked up three pair of lululemon wunder under leggings for $75.  Yep, three pairs of Lululemon leggings (all in amazing condition) for $75. 90% of lulu leggings are listed on thredUp for $41.99, which was the case for these as well. BUT, they were (and still are) offering 40% off ALL pants with coupon code YAY, so they worked out to $25/pair. SCORE!  My 3rd pair (red ones) are still in-transit to me, but should be here in a few days.

Tips, Tricks & Secrets for Scoring Great Deals on thredUp

  1. Check Often. Unfortunately it isn’t as easy as just going on the site, finding amazing pieces and checking out.  You have to look on a regular basis.  I knew I wanted solid, bright colored lulu leggings, so I keep checking back for ones in my size to pop up.
  2. Open Your Search To Include “In Someone’s Cart“.  You know where all the good stuff is on thredUp? In Someone’s Cart.  Make sure to check the box so you can see all these goodies in your results.
    thredUp Secrets, Tips & Tricks
  3. Get Notified.  Items (typically) expire after they are in someone’s cart for 24 hours.  Once you find an item that you want (and it’s in someone’s cart), click “Get Notified” and thredUp will send you an e-mail when it’s available again.
    thredUp
  4. Add It To Your Cart – NOW.  Even if you are on the fence about someone, ADD IT TO YOUR CART.  You’ll have 24 hours to decide and if you don’t add it, someone else will.  Promise.
  5. Make Sure It’s Really A Deal.  Before you purchase, check prices and make sure you are really getting a deal.  I have found that higher-end /designer brands (J.Crew, lululemon, Madewell, etc.) are better deals than say, GAP, Target brands, Old Navy, etc.  I can generally find the GAP and Old Navy pieces I want on sale / clearance, so I tend to avoid them on thredUp.
  6. Get Free Shipping! Shipping is free on orders of $79+ otherwise it’s $5.99.  That’s not bad considering your order could ship from multiple locations (my 3 pairs of leggings shipped from 3 separate locations), but free is always better!
  7. Check for Coupon Codes. First time customers can save $10 off their first order using my link, and there are often 20%, 30%, and 40% off new customer coupon codes that you’ll get in your e-mail once you have registered with thredUp, but before you have placed your first order.  Codes aren’t as frequent for returning customers, but they are out there.  They usually have codes around the holidays and right now there have codes for 40% off pants, 50% off scarves, 20% off blazers and 50% off swimwear over at RetailMeNot for new AND returning customers.
  8. Check the Return Policy. The majority of thredUp items are returnable, but may be subject to a restocking fee if they are less than $50.  If you want your refund returned to your orignal source of payment, you’ll be hit with an $8.99 return shipping fee.  If you are okay with thredUp credit, return shipping is free.

Hopefully this helps you score some  great deals!  If you already love thredUp, what is your favorite thing to shop for on there?  Favorite haul to date?

What I Bought This Week (8/9/18 Edition)!

What I Bought This Week

I love when people do posts like this so I thought I would share another round of what I bought this week:

  • Cooper’s Hawk Wine ($19.95): B and I signed up for the Cooper’s Hawk Wine Club last month and I just picked up our August bottle this week.  It’s $19.95/month and you get a bottle of wine each month plus discounts, free gifts here and there, etc.  July was double bottle month (aka 2 bottles for the price of one), which is what really got us (that and the wine we had already had before signing up).  You can try the wine of the month when you pick it up and they’ll let you swap it out if you hate it.  So far, we’ve been super happy with their picks.  August is their GSM2 – a red blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre.https://chwinery.com/wine-club/overview
  • Lululemmon Tank Top (Plato’s Closet) ($16): Although we have a few super close, I have never been to Plato’s Closet before this week. Some of it seemed expensive (aka I am not paying $40+ for pilly Lululemon leggings, but I scooped up this lulu tank for $16, which I thought was super fair. I will be back for sure.

  • Pure Barre Tank & Leggings (thredUp) ($27): I love Pure Barre logo gear, but it’s expensive!  I was looking at a tank top (literally just a cotton tank top) at my studio the other day and it was $50.  I picked up a PB tank +PB branded leggings for $27 at thredUp last week and yeah, it’s used but after the first time I wear new stuff it’s used too ;).  You can’t beat the prices either!

  • L’Oreal Paris Magic Root Cover Up Gray Concealer Spray ($9.97): I love this stuff! I swear my hair starts to turn gray a week after I get it colored at the salon, but this covers it up PERFECTLY. I used to buy it from Target, but it’s always either sold out OR every single one looks like it’s been opened /sprayed. Now I get it from amazon. It comes sealed and I know I am getting a full bottle.

That’s it from here.  What did you buy this week?  Anything exciting?

Workout Wednesday: What To Wear to (Pure) Barre Class!

What To Wear To Barre Class2

I am trying to mix things up a little on the blog and am starting a Workout Wednesday series – beginning with one of my (new) favorite workouts – Pure Barre!  I’ve been going since March and am pretty much in love.  I will do a What to Expect At Your First Pure Barre class next week, but I am starting out with what to wear to barre class. Walking into a class you’ve never done before can be a little intimidating, but this post will help you dress like you’re an old pro!

What to Wear to Barre Class (and Why)

1. Leggings. Always leggings – never shorts. Why you ask? Well, you get into some, ahh, interesting positions in barre and shorts could leave you feeling a little exposed if you know what I mean. My absolute favorite leggings are Lululemon Wunder Under Hi-Rise Tight Full-On Luon ($98), but I have leggings from pretty much everywhere – Costco, Target, Fabletics, Ellie, Athleta, you name it!  Leggings not only keep you covered, but they also help the instructor to check on your form and make sure you are getting the most out of your workout.

2. Tank Top. A t-shirt will work too, but I prefer a tank. Something fitted, but not skin-tight is my personal preference. Anything too loose may leave you feeling (again) a little too exposed during the plank and push-ups (basically the person behind you may be able to see up your entire shirt –  just something to think about). Anything too tight might just be flat out uncomfortable. I don’t necessarily have a favorite, but I grab for my Target C9 ones a lot!  I have never seen anyone wear just a sports bra and leggings to barre, but if that is your preference check with the studio you are going to just to make sure it is allowed (I know some studios do not allow this).

3. Sports Bra. There is no running / jumping in a Pure Barre Classic class, so you don’t need a super supportive sports bra. Obviously, wear what you are comfortable in, but you’ll notice lots of strappy tank / bra combos in class!

3. Sticky Socks. Sticky socks are a must! Pure Barre studios are carpeted, so no bare feet or shoes in the studio. You could wear regular socks, but sticky socks will make your life (and your 90-second plank) easier. Without them, you will be slipping around, even on carpet! You can buy socks at the studio (Pure Barre socks run about $15) or online (Life by Lexie has a 3 pair for $20 grab bag). Socks from your local trampoline place (AirTime, SkyZone) work too and are way less expensive. I’ve also seen people wear those grippy socks they give you at the hospital. Whatever works!

My Recent Pure Barre Outfits

What I Wore to Pure Barre

Hopefully, this helped if you are new to barre classes or thinking about trying them out! Barre classes are easily the most stylish fitness classes I have ever attended, but in a fun way. In general, would estimate that 95% of the class wears some sort of leggings / tank combo on any given day.  Comfort / Function first – style second!

Two on Tuesday!

Screen Shot 2014-10-27 at 9.24.19 PM1) What are your favorite online boutiques?  I have no favorites to contribute and am looking for any / all recommendations you have.  Preferably cute and trendy things (think graphic tanks, fun hoodies, etc) that aren’t too expensive.

2) What is your favorite reality show? I love them all, I really do, Very Cavallari has my heart right now.  Jay Culter is the best thing to ever happen to reality tv.  He cracks me up.  I would watch him watch his deer cams all day!

That’s it from here! I’m looking forward to hearing your answers.

Not sure why I stopped doing these, but I am bringing them back!

Currently Buying

Not buying as much as looking.  I am hunting for Pure Barre gear on the cheap on Poshmark, Merarci, thredUp, etc.  Their clothing is super expensive (no I don’t want to pay $55 for a tank top), so those sites are amazing for finding deals.

Currently Looking Forward To

College Football Season! I am so pumped for the Spartans to be back on my TV!

Currently Reading…

Sweet Little Lies. This is one of the August Book of the Month picks and so far, I am loving it. They always have at least one (usually more) books I absolutely cannot put down and this is it for August!

Currently Listening To

AJR! My favorite! I basically have Sober Up and Burn This House Down on repeat at my house.

Currently Wishing For

Capri Blue Volcano Perfume! Rumor has it this stuff is amazing and smells just as incredible as the candle. I am hoping I can find it locally, but if not, I am ordering from Amazon soon.

Currently Wearing

The mom uniform.  lululemon leggings and a tank.  Everyday.  If it’s super hot I’ll switch to shorts, but since you have to wear leggings (well pants) to barre, it’s usually leggings.  My favorites are Wunder Unders, but they are all pretty great!

Currently Annoyed About

For some reason, the backspace, quote and apostrophe keys are not working on my desktop keyboard. No idea why and the internet tips are not helping. I see a trip to the genius bar in my future.  Grrrr!!

Currently (Re)Watching

I am rewatching Big Little Lies so I can be all ready for the new season when it comes out!  It’s just as good maybe even better) the second time around!
